Study of the Relaxor Ferroelectric Single Crystal Helmholtz Transducer

In order to meet the demand of low-frequency and small-size underwater acoustic transducer for sonar systems and unmanned underwater platforms such as AUVs and UUVs. Based on the new material relaxor ferroelectric single crystal, this paper designs a low-frequency, small-size, high transmitting voltage response (TVR) Helmholtz liquid-cavity transducer. The electroacoustic performance of the relaxor ferroelectric single crystal transducer and the Helmholtz liquid-cavity transducer has been modelled and simulated using the finite element method. A prototype was also built, and an anechoic tank test experiment was conducted. The fabricated Helmholtz liquid-cavity transducer based on a relaxor ferroelectric single crystal free-flooded ring achieves a transmitting voltage response of 136 dB at 5800 Hz, and the transmitting voltage response in the 3–6 kHz band is substantially improved compared with that of a single relaxor ferroelectric single crystal free-flooded ring.
