A Broadband and Polarization-Insensitive 2 × 2 Power Splitter with CMOS Compatibility

A novel compact 2 × 2 power splitter has been meticulously designed, occupying a minimal footprint of 30 μm x 1.3 mm on a Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) platform. This device exhibits broadband operation, polarization insensitivity, and compatibility with CMOS fabrication processes. The device's exceptional polarization independence and better power splitting performance were both theoretically simulated and experimentally validated across a broad optical bandwidth ranging from 1460 nm to 1560 nm.

Abstract

A novel compact 2 × 2 power splitter has been meticulously designed, occupying a minimal footprint of 30 μm x 1.3 mm on a Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) platform. This device exhibits broadband operation, polarization insensitivity, and compatibility with CMOS fabrication processes. The device's exceptional polarization independence and better power splitting performance were both theoretically simulated and experimentally validated across a broad optical bandwidth ranging from 1460 nm to 1560 nm.
