High Frequency, Large Time-Bandwidth Product Chirp Signal Generated Based on Cascading DPMZM and Parallel RPML
A double chirped linear frequency modulation signal with large time bandwidth product (TBWP) scheme based on the cascade of a double parallel Mach Zehnder modulator (DPMZM) and a parallel cyclic phase modulator is proposed. In this scheme, the six times frequency suppressed carrier double-sideband signal is generated by DPMZM, and then the sideband separation is injected into the cyclic phase modulator by FBG. The cyclic phase modulator is injected into the 16-bit phase coded parabolic signal, and the twelve times linear frequency modulation signal is generated by beating the photodetector (PD). The proposed technique is theoretically studied and demonstrated. Using a 10GHz RF signal with the amplitude is 1, the duration is 10ns, and the phase code is 16 bit parabolic signal, after 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 cycles, the TBWP can reach, <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$5.12 \times 10^3, 1.024 \times 10^4, 1.536 \times 10^4, 2.048 \times 10^4, 2.56 \times 10^4$</tex>, respectively.
