A High-Octave UWB LNA with a Positive Slope Gain by Using Current Reuse Technique

This paper presents a high-performance GaAs low-noise amplifier (LNA) designed for wideband applications spanning from 1 GHz to 9 GHz. The LNA exhibits consistent positive slope gain characteristics across a range of operating temperatures, including −40°C, +25°C, and +85°C. Measured gain values are stable within a robust 24 to 27.5 dB window. With an impressively low noise figure (NF) of no more than 1.4 dB, the amplifier maintains excellent signal integrity. Its output power at 1 dB compression point (OP1dB) exceeds 13.3 dBm, while the third-order intercept point (OIP3) is greater than 25.5 dBm, indicating strong linearity and dynamic range. The LNA demonstrates superior matching performance and operates with a quiescent current of 42 to 44 mA under a supply voltage of 5V. Notably, the compact chip footprint measures just 1.8 mm x 1.1 mm, making it ideal for space-constrained systems.
