Design of a Dual-Polarized Slot Antenna Array with Substrate-Integrated Coaxial Line Feeding Network

In this paper, a novel 5G-NR mm-Wave dual-polarized low-profile 4 × 4 antenna array using dual-mode substrate-integrated coaxial line (SICL) is proposed. By designing a mode converter using Γ-shaped feeding strip, this method achieves an integration of separated dual-polarized feeding networks into one feeding structure with high isolation. A stimulated isolation between two modes of the input port is higher than 21 dB over the overlapping bandwidth of 14% from 24 to 27.6 GHz covering the N258 band. The peak realized gain and radiation efficiency are 17.7 dBi and 94% for both horizontal and vertical polarization. The proposed antenna array has the advantages of simple feed, low profile and compact volume, showing significant potential in the next generation of wireless communication systems.
