1-Bit Coding Beam Scanning Antenna with Parasitic Patch

In this article, a 1-bit coding reconfigurable beam scanning antenna is proposed. A symmetry of the feeding network is utilized to achieve 1-bit phase conversion. This element is combined with parasitic patch, air gap and uses the method of slot couplings to increase the antenna's bandwidth. The array has a relative bandwidth of 29% from 3.6 to 4.9 GHz. Simulated result indicates that the proposed array can cover the beam scanning range from −49° to 49° without grating lobe.

Abstract

In this article, a 1-bit coding reconfigurable beam scanning antenna is proposed. A symmetry of the feeding network is utilized to achieve 1-bit phase conversion. This element is combined with parasitic patch, air gap and uses the method of slot couplings to increase the antenna's bandwidth. The array has a relative bandwidth of 29% from 3.6 to 4.9 GHz. Simulated result indicates that the proposed array can cover the beam scanning range from −49° to 49° without grating lobe.
