Traffic-Aware Energy-Saving Mechanism in the FTTR Network

With the widespread deployment of Fiber-To-The-Room (FTTR) networks, a significant issue of energy consumption arises. However, the current FTTR systems lack network-level energy-saving measures, potentially leading to high power consumption. To address this issue, we propose a traffic-aware energy-saving mechanism for FTTR networks. Simulation results show that the proposed solution reduces power consumption by 20% compared to the benchmark scheme, with latency fluctuations within 3 ms.

Abstract

With the widespread deployment of Fiber-To-The-Room (FTTR) networks, a significant issue of energy consumption arises. However, the current FTTR systems lack network-level energy-saving measures, potentially leading to high power consumption. To address this issue, we propose a traffic-aware energy-saving mechanism for FTTR networks. Simulation results show that the proposed solution reduces power consumption by 20% compared to the benchmark scheme, with latency fluctuations within 3 ms.
