A UDP-based Data Transmission Scheme Considering Transfer Time for Wireless Multihop Networks and Its Evaluation

Some edge servers utilize Internet of Vehicles (IoV) systems to aggregate information from vehicular terminals. When a massive number of terminals communicate with edge servers, the network overhead increases. Thus, it is necessary to determine leader terminals which handle communication with edge servers and manage other terminals. The subnet network consisting of leader and other terminals is a wireless multihop network. Therefore, rapid data transmission is necessitated in the environment where routes are disrupted due to terminal mobility and interference from neighboring terminals. In this paper, we propose a UDP-based data transmission scheme considering transfer time for wireless multihop networks and conduct simulation evaluation. In the simulation experiment, we evaluated the proposed data transmission scheme by comparing scenarios where the edge server both manages and does not manage the number of simultaneous senders.
