Tunable Temporal Separation of Loosely Bound Soliton Molecules in a 1.6 µm Mode-Locked Fiber Laser

We have experimentally observed 1.6 µm soliton molecules in a mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser based on nonlinear polarization evolution. By adjusting the pump power, stable loosely bound soliton molecules with different temporal separation are obtained.
