Decouple of a Shared-Radiator Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna with Consistent Radiation Performances
In this article, a shared-radiator cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is decoupled with consistent radiation performances. Based on the common mode (CM) and differential mode (DM) cancellation method, the impedances of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{TE}_{01\delta}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{TE}_{01\delta+1}$</tex> modes that correspond to CM and DM, are equaled by mounting a conformal metallic strip at the middle of the cylinder surface. Hence, the electric field is nearly eliminated around the loaded port, resulting in the reduction of mutual coupling. In addition, no matter which port is driven, the excited field possesses translational symmetry and produces consistent radiation performances. The simulated isolation is higher than 22 dB across the impedance bandwidth; The radiation patterns is consistent and the cross-polarization level is lower than -17 dB.
