An 8.19 nW, -71.9 dBm Sensitivity, Interference-Robust Dual-Channel Wake-Up Receiver at 2.4 GHz
A dual-channel ED-1st(energy detector first) wake-up receiver (WuRX) with ultra-low power and high interference robustness is presented in this work. A novel dual-channel MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) matching network is adopted for filtering and providing passive voltage gain. Thanks to the high <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$Q$</tex> of film bulk acoustic resonators (FBAR) and the dual channel working framework, the rejection to amplitude modulation (AM) interference of the WuRX is greatly improved. Designed using a 65 nm CMOS process, the WuRX operates at ~2.4 GHz and features a data rate of 250 bps based on on-off keying (OOK) modulation. Post-simulation results show that the WuRX exhibits sensitivity of -71.9 dBm and power consumption of 8.19 nW from a 0.5 V supply voltage while achieving missed-detection rate (MDR) less than 10−3 and false alarm rate (FAR) less than 1/h. The WuRX achieves -39.1 dB optimal signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) to AM interference (250 bps OOK modulated interferer) near the carrier frequency, and the worst in-band SIR is -6.4 dB. At the carrier frequency of each channel, the SIR is -11.5 dB and -30.6 dB, respectively.
