Phase Sensing Technique Using Conventional Linewidth Lasers Widely Employed in Commercial Coherent Transponders

In this paper, we present a technique that can utilize low-cost hardware to measure and compensate for phase noise, enabling the use of conventional linewidth lasers in commercial coherent transponders for phase noise sensing and integration into joint communication-sensing systems. We validate this technique through simulations and investigate potential technical challenges and issues in practical implementations.

Abstract

In this paper, we present a technique that can utilize low-cost hardware to measure and compensate for phase noise, enabling the use of conventional linewidth lasers in commercial coherent transponders for phase noise sensing and integration into joint communication-sensing systems. We validate this technique through simulations and investigate potential technical challenges and issues in practical implementations.
