Traffic Shaping for Diverse Cycles Reduction in Industrial TDM-PON Gateway
Time-Aware Deterministic Bandwidth Allocation (TA-DetBA) scheme was proposed in an industrial Time Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network (TDM-PON) bandwidth according to the characteristics of flow arrivals. However, diverse flow cycles will increase the scheduling time of TA-DetBA sharply. In this paper, we propose a Traffic Shaping scheme for Diverse flow Cycles (DC-TS) in an industrial TDM-PON. Through the DC-TS enabled industrial gateway on the Optical Network Unit (ONU) side, the diversity of flow cycles can be reduced, thereby improving the scheduling speed of TA-DetBA. The simulation results show that, on the basis of ensuring schedulability, the scheduling time of TA-DetBA after DC-TS is reduced to 14.8% compared to conventional TA-DetBA.
