Broadband Polyomino-Shaped Antenna Elements and Array Based on Substrate Integrated Cavity
In this paper, a series of broadband polyomino-shaped high-order-mode back-cavity slot antenna (PS-HOM- BSA) elements based on substrate integrated cavity (SIC) are proposed for fifth-generation (5G) applications. Irregular SIC is used for the first time to design high-order-mode back-cavity slot antenna (HOM-BSA). The simulated results show that the -10 dB impedance bandwidth of all elements can fully cover 5G communication bands n257, n258 and n261 (19.54%, 24.25-29.5 GHz). A periodic array and an aperiodic array with the same number of feeding ports and radiation slots based on some of these elements are also given. The simulated results show that the aperiodic array is beneficial for designing low sidelobe antenna arrays.
