Square-Shaped Irregular QAM Formats Outperforming Cross-Shaped Odd-Bit QAM and Probabilistically Shaped Even-Bit QAM in the Presence of Laser Phase Noise
In this study, the performance of irregular QAM formats under laser phase noise was evaluated. Simulation results demonstrate notable performance improvement of up-to 0.89-bit/symbol over conventional cross-shaped odd-bit and probabilistically-shaped even-bit QAM formats.
