A Direct Position Determination Algorithm for Underwater Acoustic Broadband Pulse Signal

The paper proposes a direct position determination (DPD) algorithm for passive localization of underwater acoustic broadband pulse signals using a single moving array receiving multiple pulse signals. In response to the problem of complex representation of Doppler frequency difference in the frequency domain of broadband pulse signals, the Doppler frequency shift is modeled as a time domain scaling transformation. A DPD model for Direction of Arrival (DOA), Doppler Frequency Difference of Arrival (FDOA) and Time of Arrival (TOA) is established in the time domain, and a broadband pulse signal DPD algorithm using sinc interpolation is derived. The simulation results show the algorithm proposed in this paper has higher positioning accuracy compared to the cross-location method and the DPD algorithm that doesn't use pulse arrival time.
