High Efficiency Tuning Method for MG-Y Lasers Based on Arc Strategy Scanning
Recently, modulated grating Y-branch (MG-Y) lasers have demonstrated strong application value in fiber optic sensing, optical communication and other fields due to their excellent tuning performance. However, a wavelength-current lookup table (LUT) is the prerequisite for high-precision tuning using this laser. The common tuning method is to traverse reflector currents, which is extremely inefficient. Here we report an arc scanning strategy only containing 1631 combinations of reflector currents so as to quickly locate smooth wavelength tuning paths. Experimental results show that MG- Y laser can be tuned within the range of 1527~1567 nm and in the step of 10 pm. The tuning wavelength standard deviation is 0.266 pm, and the spectral side-mode suppression ratios are greater than 40 dB. This work paves a novel way for efficient construction of higher resolution LUT.
