The Impact of the Underwater Environment Salinity during the Inspections Carried out with EPS Vision 1712 in Black Sea

Underwater visibility is significantly impacted by the light and the aquatic environment, particularly salinity. This study explores the propagation of electromagnetic waves, specifically light, through varying salinity conditions, and focuses on the challenges posed by the Black Sea. By employing advanced software simulations, we analyze the attenuation and scattering of light across a range of salinity levels characteristic of the Black Sea. Our findings reveal a strong correlation between salinity and light propagation, with specific wavelengths demonstrating superior penetration and reduced scattering. While our current research utilizes the EPS Vision 1712, a system limited to intensity adjustments, our simulations underscore the potential of wavelength optimization for enhancing underwater image quality. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of light-water interactions in saline environments and provides a foundation for developing advanced imaging technologies for maritime applications.
