Implementation of Intelligent Transport System - An Effective Approach for the Shortage of Workforce in the Transport Sector in the Republic of Croatia

For several years now, the Republic of Croatia has been facing a major labour shortage in the transport sector, be it passenger or cargo transport. With the advent of the economic crisis, professional drivers went to the countries of Western Europe in search of better working conditions and better position in society. It is clear that company owners in the Republic of Croatia are not in place to offer as good working conditions as drivers have in Western Europe, so the question remains how to solve this burning problem, since the interest of young people also is decreasing year by year. This research paper will try to get a better insight into the core of the problem, as well as their possible solutions through interviews with five bus drivers, five truck drivers, five owners of truck transport companies and five owners of bus transport companies.
