Design and Development of Automated Batch Dryer of Grains
India is largely an agrarian economy, i.e., it is mostly based on agriculture. People in India usually have a diet based on grains such as rice, wheat and other millets. Due to this, the demand for grains has always been high. To benefit the export of such grains, there must be better facilities for cultivation, storage and transportation. In the case of grains, for storage, there must be lesser moisture so that it would have a longer life. It is possible to reduce moisture only by drying it in the sunlight. Due to this, the drying process cannot be achieved at all times, therefore, a facility is required for drying the grains in all seasons. In this proposed work, a system for drying the grains is being discussed, wherein the grains are poured into the machine and are constantly heated until the moisture level reaches the desired levels for storage. A temperature sensor and a moisture sensor are used for monitoring the temperature inside the heating chamber and the moisture level present in grains respectively. A conveyor belt is used in this process for helping in constant heating and also for the transportation of grains.
