A Circularly Polarized Microstrip Antenna Array for Satellite Communication
A circularly polarized (CP) microstrip patch antenna array with a sequential phase feeding network is proposed for low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication systems. The antenna array has a bandwidth of 12.7% from 27.3 GHz to 31 GHz with a peak gain of 11.6 dBic. The feeding network is sequentially phased with a quadrature phase shift. The antenna array has advantages such as stable gain, small size, ability to form arrays, and ability to scan at large angles. The proposed antenna array has been used for low earth orbit satellite communication in the GW program frequency band, covering its 27.5-31 GHz frequency band.
