AII-Textile Antenna With On-/ Off-Body Reconfigurability in Single Band for Wearable Devices
A flexible reconfigurable antenna operating in the 2.45-GHz ISM band with on- and off-body modes is proposed for wearable devices. Omnidirectional and unidirectional radiations are constructed using the fundamental TMoo and TM modes in the rectangular patch. The resonance of the unidirectional mode is introduced to the operating band by four set slots, and circular polarization of the unidirectional radiation is achieved by cutting corners diagonally across the patch. The radiation modes are controlled by four PIN diodes. The simulated -10-dB impedance bandwidths of on- and off-body modes are 3.47% (2.40-2.485 GHz) and 3.47% (2.40-2.485 GHz), respectively. The 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth in unidirectional radiation is 0.6% (2.439-2.454 GHz) when the antenna is attached to a multilayer human tissue model.
