Sum Rate Maximization for Sub-Connected MIMO UWOC Systems: A Rate-Splitting Scheme

We propose a novel precoding scheme integrating rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) and sub-connected (SC) structure for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) underwater optical communication (UWOC) systems. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves a sum rate increase of more than 5 bps/Hz and an energy efficiency en-hancement of up to 25% over the existing space-division and non-orthogonal multiple access approaches.

Abstract

We propose a novel precoding scheme integrating rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) and sub-connected (SC) structure for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) underwater optical communication (UWOC) systems. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves a sum rate increase of more than 5 bps/Hz and an energy efficiency en-hancement of up to 25% over the existing space-division and non-orthogonal multiple access approaches.
