Silicon-Photonics-Empowered Physical Unclonable Functions Using Chaotic Resonances
We report optical physical unclonable functions based on a deformed microcavity leveraging silicon photonics technology. The adopted quadrupolar microdisk design with an adjustable deformation parameter enables the generation of chaotic resonances. Via introducing embedded scatterers, the spectral response exhibits nice randomness and uniqueness. Key generation was processed utilizing wavelet transform and pool-based key generation and expansion. In practice, the correlation analysis between the original and six copied devices examines the superior reproducibility.
