Monolithic Integration of $1.3 \mu \mathrm{m}$ Quantum Dot Microdisk Lasers and Photo Detectors Grown on Planar On-Axis Si (001) Substrates

A monolithic silicon-based optoelectronic integrated system consisting of quantum dot microdisk lasers, coupled waveguides, and photodetectors, is demonstrated. The feasibility of this integration approach has been substantiated by our preliminary test results.
