Are you Ready? an Intelligent Robotic Assistant for Instrumental Activities of Daily Living
In recent years, mobile manipulators have shown their potential to support people with instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). This paper proposed an intelligent robotic system that can assist people in preparing for IADL, such as getting ready for work, shopping, or going to the doctor. The proposed system uses a rule-based approach to enable the robot to learn tasks from humans using speech commands and execute the learned tasks. An experimental setup is developed to evaluate the proposed system in a pilot study of 10 participants. The preliminary results of the pilot study demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed robotic system.
