An Ultra-Low-Profile Circularly Polarized Folded Transmitarray

In our work, a shared-aperture circularly polarized folded transmitarray (FTA) with ultra-low profile, high gain and high aperture efficiency is proposed for satellite communication systems. A dual-frequency multifunctional metasurface has been designed for operation in the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{K}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{Ka}$</tex> bands. It is a receiver-emitter structure comprising circularly polarized receiver patches and circularly polarized transmitter patches. The generation of anomalous reflections at the dual-frequency band is made possible by the use of dual-frequency reflection phase, thereby achieving ultra-low profile.
