Tailorable Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Gallium Nitride Waveguides
GaN-on-sapphire waveguide is proposed for efficient backward stimulated Brillouin scattering. The maximum normalized Brillouin gain <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$G_{B}/Q_{m}$</tex> for GaN waveguide is estimated to be 0.082 <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{W}^{-1}\mathrm{m}^{-1}$</tex> and 0.047 <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{W}^{-1}\mathrm{m}^{-1}$</tex> for TM- and TE-polarized pumps, respectively.
