Design and Characterization of the Heterogeneous Integrated Optical Fiber with Triple Side Nickel Cores

A heterogeneous integrated optical fiber with triple side nickel cores (TSNCF) was designed, fabricated, and characterized. Initially, the structure of the TSNCF was meticulously designed using the finite element method. Subsequently, the TSNCF preform was fabricated by employing a rod-in-tube method, followed by the direct thermal drawing to make the fiber. Ultimately, the comprehensive characterization and analysis were conducted to assess the transmission loss and magnetic properties of the prepared TSNCF. Notably, the transmission loss of the TSN CF was measured to be approximately 4.68 dB/m at the wavelength of 1550 nm. The results demonstrate that the TSNCF has promising potential for applications in distributed magnetic field sensing.
