Smart Reverse Vending Machines: Integrating Deep Learning and IOT for Enhanced Recycling
Plastics pollution is thereby a major danger to both the land and aquatic life system because of their frequent application. When it comes to wastes, then plastic bottles, cans, milk cartoons are some of the worst products that take many years to decompose hence polluting the environment. The proposed system of this paper is an improved RVM(Reverse Vending Machine) that encompasses the use of Deep Learning (DL), and Internet of Things(IoT) technologies to improve the efficiency of recycling. Realtime object detection and recognition is done by the YOLO (You Only Look Once) V10, it distinguishes between plastics, cans, and milk cartons. A Flutter-based application enables the user interface, while Firebase handles users' record and synchronization of activities. Further, brand detection is done using Google Cloud Vision API to gather information about the trends in recycling. The IoT framework of the system helps track bin storage levels to avoid efficiently inciting waste collection. This paper outlines the RVM system's general layout, functioning and effectiveness, proving that it has the potential to revolutionize the recycling practice and promote environmental preservation.
