Satellite Selection Method by Multiple Receivers on Vehicles for Improving Inter-vehicle Distance Estimation with Local DGNSS
Inter-vehicle distance estimation is important for driving support systems such as preventing collisions and following a preceding vehicle. As the inter-vehicle distance estimation methods based on GNSS, local DGNSS has been researched to improve the accuracy of the distance estimation. For the improvement, the local DGNSS uses multiple receivers on vehicles. However, the estimation performance of the local DGNSS depends highly on the selection of the subset of common satellites which is used for generating correction information among the receivers. Despite its significance, the satellite selection method has not been enough investigated to improve the performance of local DGNSS. This paper proposes a novel satellite selection method, where the selected satellites have high similarity in terms of MPLC (Multipath Linear Combination) values across multiple vehicle-mounted receivers. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of the proposed method through performance evaluation with actual observed GNSS data.
