Designing an Early Flood Warning System Using SRF05 and S201 Sensors

In recent years, natural disasters and floods have occurred more frequently and at a more serious level, causing serious damage to people, property, and the ecological environment. Reducing damage caused by floods is an extremely urgent issue that many organizations and scientists worldwide are focusing on researching. Flood is the natural disasters and the result of the process of concentrating water in large quantities and overflowing into low-lying areas, causing widespread flooding. It causes not only heavy damage to people and property but also long-term negative impacts on the ecological environment. Floods have complex and unpredictable developments. They occur continuously every year and are too difficult to control. The damage that they cause is huge. This paper first aims to design a flood warning system that can operate under harsh weather conditions. Our system uses two sensors (SRF05 and S201) to measure level and flow of water. We also design the server to receive data from the system. They are compared with the measurement results, which are given warnings and uploaded on the web, helping everyone to monitor the flood situation quickly. The simulation results proves that the system is able to detect water levels from 70 cm to 100 cm in real time which can be applied in practice.
