Chiral Metasurfaces for Heat Engine

We propose a radiative heat engine that has chirality-selective thermal emission with circular dichroism (CD) value of 0.9. We calculate the transfered total angular momentum to estimate its rotation speed, which is approximately 1 rad/s.

Abstract

We propose a radiative heat engine that has chirality-selective thermal emission with circular dichroism (CD) value of 0.9. We calculate the transfered total angular momentum to estimate its rotation speed, which is approximately 1 rad/s.
