Research on Forward Design Method for Airport Pavements Based on BIM Technology

To address the challenges of forward design in airport design practices, including improving design consistency, quality, and reducing time cost when converting BIM models, this paper proposed a method based on BIM technology. Leveraging the BIMBase platform's potential ability to manage terrain and large-scale models, and aligning with the airport pavement design workflow, we developed a business logic-based forward design methodology. Using the C++ API interface provided in the SDK, we created the “Airport Pavement Design System”. Practical proj ects implementations demonstrate that the method and system align well with design practices and enable simultaneously output of both 2D design and 3D models in airport pavement engineering. This approach has significant potential for application in future projects.
