A Multi-Port Power Converter with High Voltage Gain

This paper proposes a multi-port power converter (MPC) that integrates fuel cells (FC) and energy storage batteries, featuring high voltage gain capable of supplying high voltage to loads or DC microgrids. Based on the battery's state of charge/discharge control and protection, and load power requirements, the converter operates in three different modes. To optimize implementation cost, size, and modularity, the converter design includes an energy storage inductor integrated with an auxiliary boost circuit, which enhances voltage gain, reduces stress on power components, and improves conversion efficiency. The content of this paper includes circuit topology analysis, circuit simulation, and steady-state analysis, culminating in the development of a 500W prototype platform. Experimental and simulation results verify the feasibility of the proposed system, achieving maximum efficiencies of 98.7%, 98.7%, and 98.5% in the three modes, respectively.
