Manzikert during the Republic Period
The importance of the Battle of Manzikert in Turkish political history is an issue that is indisputable. However, it is an undeniable reality that the geography mentioned here is as important as the history we experienced. Accordingly, it is also a matter of curiosity what kind of a place this region, which is of such importance in the historical process, was with the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye. Malazgirt existed as the second largest district in the province of Muş, without presenting a significant difference within the classical structure of Anatolia. The transformation it has undergone in this process and the application area of this transformation in Malazgirt within the scope of the principles and reforms brought by the republic is an intriguing subject. In addition, topics such as how the Anatolian people who emerged from the War of Independence adapted to the new regime, especially in this remote district of the countryside, as well as what the importance of the Battle of Manzikert meant in this geography in the first years of the republic, were examined in this study, taking into account the procedures and principles of historical science.
