Optimized multi-line laser calibration based on innovative 3D target for high-precision vision systems

Abstract To achieve high-precision calibration of multi-line structured light vision measurement systems, this paper proposes a novel multi-line laser calibration method based on an encoded 3D target. Unlike traditional calibration methods that rely on 2D and 3D targets, the proposed method eliminates the need for multiple adjustments of target pose and multiple image captures, enabling rapid calibration of multiple laser lines in a single shot. The encoded 3D target designed in this study includes several flexible, adjustable planar coded feature boards, rendering it adaptable to different multi-line laser spacings and enhancing its applicability and practicality. Furthermore, this study introduces reverse reprojection constraints to optimize the proposed calibration method. This optimization enhances the precision of the light plane parameters and corrects the camera parameters. Comparative experiments with other light plane calibration methods confirm the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method in terms of measurement accuracy.
