GLANDULAR ODONTOGENIC CYST IN THE ANTERIOR MAXILLA: A CASE REPORT AND AN IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS
Background: Glandular odontogenic cyst is a relatively rare lesion of odontogenic origin seen in the jaws. It tends to grow to a large extent and has a reasonably high recurrence rate. It also behaves in an unpredictable and possibly aggressive manner. It presents a diagnostic problem since it can be mistaken for low-grade mucoepidermoid cancer, botryoid odontogenic cyst, lateral periodontal cyst, radicular and residual cysts with mucous metaplasia both clinically and histopathologically. Clinically, appears as an asymptomatic swelling seen most commonly in the anterior region of mandible and radiographically does not display any specic or pathognomonic features. The present article describes a case of GOC occurring in the anterior maxilla with a swelling in a 31-year old male patient which is a rare site of occurrence.
