Children’s publishing trends shown in Imundang’s book lists and advertisements in the modern era
The purpose of this paper is to reveal aspects of Imundang, especially trends in children’s publishing, by referring to Lee Mundang’s book list published in 1925, 1934, and 1935, as well as newspaper and magazine materials. 1912 Lee Won-saeng’s Example Form Daejeon appears to be the first publication. Until now, it is known that it was founded by Go Gwang-gyu in 1916, but in fact, it was already published in 1912, and after passing through several people, it was reborn as a stock company in 1925. Imundang’s goal was to mediate new and old knowledge and spread national education, and put this into practice through publishing. As a result, the Japanese Government-General of Korea actively published books necessary for children’s education, including textbooks and reference books. Through this, it can be said that Lee Mun-dang led modern children’s publishing and formed various trends.
