"Senne dzieje" Władysława Stanisława Reymonta jako świadectwo podmiotu zdezintegrowanego
Senne dzieje (1908) by Władysław Stanisław Reymont belongs to a category of the author’s works that has received relatively little attention from researchers so far. However, the text shows elements that foreshadow modern prose in many respects. The author navigates between playing with his own biography and intertextual references to Sny Marii Dunin by Karol Irzykowski and Horla by Guy de Maupassant. Nevertheless, what decisively contributes to the modernity of the work is its narrative style. Reymont’s narrator undergoes a gradual disintegration. On one hand, the text reveals a clinical representation of psychopathology in paranoid schizophrenia, while on the other hand, when viewed more broadly, it reflects a crisis in the substantially conceived subject.
