"Była w nim jakaś pełnia…" Władysław Reymont w optyce Antoniego Langego
This article explores the friendly relationship between Antoni Lange and Władysław Reymont. To reconstruct their friendship, I analyzed Lange’s letters to Reymont from 1895 to 1908, Reymont’s correspondence with other individuals, and Lange’s recollections. The evaluation of Reymont’s literary works is based on Lange’s critical writings and his book Pochodnie w mroku. Żeromski – Reymont – Kasprowicz, published after Reymont’s death. Lange admired Reymont for the order and epic scope of his storytelling, his ability to weave together diverse phenomena and aspects of human life in his novels. According to Lange, Reymont had the ability to create an entire world in his works due to his inner calm and composure.
