THE CONCEPT «DOMAIN NAME». THE LEGAL NATURE OF A DOMAIN NAME AS AN OBJECT OF CIVIL LAW RELATIONS

The author substantiates the need to improve the system of concepts used in the legislation to designate the domain name. The author proposes the author's definition of the concept of “domain name”, which will fill the gap existing in civil law, and the introduction of the proposed definition at the legislative level will contribute to a uniform understanding and interpretation of the concept of the object “domain name” in civil-law relations. The author substantiates a new model of the right to the domain name, based on the established legal nature and essence of the domain name.
