In Vivo Evaluation Of Anti – Inflammatory Effect Of Kakamachi (Solanum Nigrum Linn) - An Experimental Study

Sotha (Inflammation) is the commonest problem faced many times by human beings. It can be observed as a symptom in various diseases like amavata(Rheumatoid arthritis), vatarakata(Gout), sandhigata(Osteoarthritis)  etc and also explained as separate disease in Ayurvedic classics. The word sotha means the part of the body which is utsedayukta. Inflammation is a tissue reaction to infection, irritation or foreign substances. It is a part of host defence mechanism. The various anti-inflammatory drugs available though very potent are not devoid of untoward side effects. To find an alternative herbal remedy effective in sotha the drug kakamachi is taken up for the study.
