Functionalization of Silica Nanoparticles for Tailored Interactions with Intestinal Cells and Chemical Modulation of Paracellular Permeability
Paracellular Permeability In article number 2400112, Giorgia Del Favero, Freddy Kleitz, and co-workers explored the interactions of tailored functionalized silica nanoparticles with intestinal cells. Diversification of surface chemistry enabled modulation of paracellular permeability and transient barrier relapse in a differentiated Caco-2/HT29-MTX-E12 coculture model. These effects were associated with the reorganization of tight junction proteins and an increase in cell-cell distances induced by particle treatments.
