A Heterogeneous Device Access Gateway for Cultural Heritage Security

In the realm of cultural heritage protection, the use of disparate communication protocols and platforms by devices from various manufacturers hinders the integration of heterogeneous device data onto a unified platform. Current heterogeneous device gateways demand high operational skills and prior technical preparation. To counter these challenges, this paper presents the design and implementation of a security-oriented heterogeneous device gateway for cultural relics. The gateway consolidates critical modules such as data collection, caching, protocol identification, and data parsing, addressing the technical difficulties in integrating heterogeneous device data. It employs an innovative “learn-then-connect” approach, adapting to and efficiently parsing data from various devices by learning their communication protocols and formats. Experimental simulations collected data from five types of heterogeneous devices, amassing 2,500 entries. The results demonstrate the gateway's capability to effectively identify and parse the communication protocols of reconnected devices.
