A Triangular Grid Millimeter Wave Planar Array with Wide Bandwidth and Angular Scanning
In this paper, a microstrip patch antenna unit is proposed, which has the advantages of wide bandwidth, high gain, small footprint, simple structure, stable in-band beamwidth. The simulation results show that the impedance bandwidth of the unit can reach 30.8% (13.52-18.45 GHz), the realized gain is stable at 5.6-6.6 dB, and the 3 dB beamwidth of E-plane and H-plane is very close and stable at 89-98°. The simulation results of the 10*10 triangular grid array show that the active voltage standing wave ratio (AVSWR) of each of the 100 units is almost below 2, and the isolation between units is greater than 19 dB in the frequency range of 14–21 GHz. In the 14–17 GHz range, the array scan angle is greater than 100° on E-plane and H-plane, and drop to 80° at 19GHz.
