Improved Depth Weighted Method Based on Target in Deformed tHVA Coils
The depth of brain stimulation and the focusing capability are the core performance indicators in Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) coil design. In this work, an improved evaluation algorithm called depth weighted method based on target (DWMBT) is proposed for assessing the performance of deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(dTMS) coils, which can better reflect the stimulation effectiveness of coils at different depths within the brain. Subsequently, a novel coil design named deformed tHVA(transformed Halo V-shaped Assembly) is proposed for its better performance evaluated by algorithm mentioned above. The distribution of electromagnetic field of the proposed coil design shows that the design has better focusing capability and stimulates at deeper brain region than classical dTMS coils, and the field distribution result also proves the effectiveness of the algorithm.
