Characterization of Shielding Effectiveness of Composites Based on Rectangular Resonator
Carbon materials and their composites are used as one of the important materials in aerospace as they replace traditional metal materials due to their extremely favorable electromagnetic shielding properties and excellent mechanical properties. In this paper, the characterization model of surface resistance and shielding effectiveness of composites is established based on the planar theory, and a test method for the surface resistance of a dielectric partially filled rectangular resonant cavity operating in the S-band is proposed. This method enables the testing of carbon fiber composites with non-conductive and uneven surfaces, reduces the test area in the S-band, and improves the resolution. Theoretical calculations and simulation verification of carbon fiber composites with conductivity in the range of 104–105S/m are carried out using the proposed method, and the theoretically calculated values are basically consistent with the simulated values.
