A Low Differential Modal Gain All-Fiber Few-Mode Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier
We developed a low differential modal gain (DMG) all-fiber few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier(FM-EDFA), which supports the transmissions of four signal modes <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(\text{LP}_{01}$</tex>, LP<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf>, <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{LP}_{21}$</tex>, LP<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">02</inf>) and features a high energy utilization rate. At 1550 nm, the gain of each mode is greater than 22 dB, and the DMG is lower than 1.63 dB. While the average gain of each mode in the C-band is greater than 21 dB, and the DMG is only 2.38 dB.
