Quaternary Logic Circuit Designs using GNRFETs
This paper presents quaternary designs based on graphene nanoribbon transistors (GNRFETs). Quaternary logics provide various advantages over standard logics, including a smaller footprint, fewer wires, faster processing, and more bandwidth. This study shows a variety of designs, including standard, positive, negative, and intermediate quaternary inverters (i.e., SI, PI, NI, and II), respectively. In addition, universal and basic gates with two or three inputs are proposed. HSPICE tool is used to model the quaternary circuits. Delay, power, power-delay-product (PDP), and energy-delay-product (EDP) are all explored as performance metrics and compared to CNTFETs. The proposed designs enhanced performance by up to 62.49% over CNTFET devices.
